The Women of Greenham.
Once a year or so I like to tackle a big mythological subject. These paintings are done from imagination, and I like to allow time for the visualisation fully to develop in the subconscious.
One of my central motifs is of a group of women warriors who represent an ethic of working with nature using materials such as rope and wood, bronze and leather.
The picture involved a series of drawings, with colour notes. For elements such as aircraft, ships, or trains, I prefer to study them for some time, and then to draw them as a direct visualisation, never from photographic reference.
